Shared adventures are just better

I’m glad you stopped by my online front porch.

I’m Stacy Jo, and I’m the writer behind this blog. I like to share moments, questions, and little observations that feel too important to overlook. I also write about creativity, nature, community, and family, inspired by my life in the Southeast, and for a few years, I lived in Michigan. I’m married to my college sweetheart, we have three grown-up kids, and Oliver, our chocolate Lab.

Learning and trying new things.

I'm an artist and a mom during the day, and I love blogging at night. What matters most to me is that I’m always learning and trying new things. I was once on the Auburn Tiger Paws dance team, performing in front of thousands, which made me happy. Hiking through the woods to trad-climb a mountain helps me relax.

I don’t need big adventures to feel engaged with life. But traveling alone to Amsterdam and actually finding my hotel was exciting. I walked over the cobblestone streets of Prague and stayed in the apartment where Mozart lived. When the Dalai Lama visited Atlanta, my husband and I went to hear him speak. He is a true voice for peace and also has a great sense of humor. What did I learn? Besides the secrets to the universe (just kidding), I realized that sometimes I can find treasure right in my own backyard.

If I ever go looking for my heart’s desire again, I won’t look any further than my own backyard. Because if it isn’t there, I never really lost it to begin with.

A Hippie Chick Check-In.

Lately, I’ve been having fun with my #HippieChickCheckIn posts. They’re little snapshots into my life, thoughts, nature, music, and whatever else is going on that week. I write about discoveries in life, things we can all relate to. Celebrate nature with me, find new ways to be creative, and explore the connections we share with family and community.

Why did I choose the name A Hippie Chick? It’s a way to honor my free-spirited side, which I try to blend into daily life. I’ve always felt drawn to nature, creativity, and peaceful living, so the name A Hippie Chick just felt right.
