This Tiny Dancer: Thoughts on Identity and Creativity

This tiny dancer is still in me.

I’m in my 50s now, but that tiny dancer is still part of me. I can picture myself twirling around the family room, pigtails flying, and even wearing my pink tutu. I came across this video recently that brought back memories. (Even though it’s technically a commercial) It brought back feelings of when I first started to find my creative inner voice and discover the dancer and artist within. The joy, rhythm, and love of movement never truly leave us. We shouldn’t let go of fearless expression, either. I realized it was important to pause and remember my identity; who the real, creative Stacy Jo is. I dedicate this to all the talented dancers I’ve met, whether I was five or fifty-five.
