Peep Show: Painting My Very First Watercolor Chick

My first watercolor chick!

I’ve been trying watercolors for the first time over the past few days. Messy hot-wax encaustic mixed-media artwork is pushing me to try something new: watercolors. My first watercolor chick has hatched.

The chicklet (my name) isn't perfect, but I’m okay with that now. I actually like it; the chicklet's imperfections make it approachable. Check out YouTube tutorials to help you get started with this tricky medium. They give you direction and let you add your personality as you go.

I’m sharing my first chicklet to encourage everyone to have fun and just experiment with art. Black scribble, blue watercolor, gold feathers with a few white flowers. Anything goes; my goal is to paint a few Bullet Chicklets (like a Bullet Journal) to express what direction I’m headed.
