Two Poems: Reflections on Hope
The Hope I Carry
by Stacy Jo @ahippiechick
I carry a steady, determined hope
that never gives up.
My hope is patient,
remaining through daily chores.
It shows kindness
even when it's difficult,
and is humble enough
to accept a shift
in the tiniest moment.
This hope does not erase grief.
It stays alongside it,
seeking to change hurt into meaning.
I honor the importance
of expressing both the grace
and the sorrow in life.
If you know me,
you will notice my steady strength,
my natural wish to nurture others,
and my ability to recognize
the positive qualities in everyone.
I carry a steady, determined hope
that never gives up.
Hope Sits in the Trenches
by Nikita Gill @nikita_gill
Hope sits in the trenches,
the last one standing,
its teeth cracked,
its knuckles bruised,
but its eyes are still gleaming
with the light of a million lamps.
Its heart is still beating
because even here,
even now,
it knows that a better world
is worth fighting for.
