A Modern Hippie Blog About Life, Family,
Creativity, and Outdoor Living
As a child, my family spent weeks driving through the Blue Ridge Mountains in our van with a rainbow unicorn. We visited artists from my parents' gallery and participated in mindful Unitarian retreats, all while camping surrounded by natural beauty. Life is more conventional now, and I kept my family’s open-minded beliefs.
A Hippie Chick is a lifestyle blog where I share posts on nature, creativity, family, and finding beauty in everyday moments.
The Adjustment Bureau Dance Scene
I feel truly thankful for the diverse dance styles I’ve explored along my journey. The movie The Adjustment Bureau questions the concept of free will, but what really captivates me is the stunning choreography.
“An Angel Takes Wing” encaustic artwork
The original concept was to create an encaustic painting depicting Saint Bernard of Montjoux. It felt fitting to paint him since he is the patron saint of climbers, hikers, backpackers, and skiers. Greg and I love to climb, hike, and backpack. Maybe we need a Saint watching now and again.

A quote describing Chris Stapleton’s “Cold” performed at the CMA Awards: “This guy sings like he's been heartbroken by 1000 women. You can actually feel the pain in his voice. Amazing”. @timyoung1847
Classical-ish Mix of Songs
I’ve compiled a list of the Top 10 Classical Music pieces that I love. This playlist is a “Classical-ish” mix of past and present composers. Some music may be familiar, and hopefully, you will discover something new.
National Hummingbird Day
Welcome to National Hummingbird Day. They are not only fascinating but also belong to a group of pollinators, birds, that are critical to our environment. Birds, bats, butterflies, moths, flies, beetles, wasps, small mammals, and most importantly, bees are pollinators.
Nine Inch Nails Live!
Greg and I are heading to the Nine Inch Nails (NIN) concert—I know it’s going to be a great night! I want to say thanks to my husband for buying the tickets. I’ve mentioned that we love going to concerts and live performances, and this one promises to be unforgettable.

The Daylily Garden Showcase highlights the beauty and variety of our flowers. I’m excited to share not only the vibrant world of our daylilies, but also the inspiration and joy they bring. #FlowerFriday

Bring Back You: Building Strength, Rebuilding Self
Fitness can rebuild what's broken. It can make you feel powerful, help you love yourself, and affirm your worth. It can teach you self-care and how to offer yourself a gift when you most need it.
Paddle, Hike, Cache, Repeat.
We are a one-bar family. We mostly hike, kayak, canoe, and go off-road in our Jeep. The picture above shows me celebrating with Greg after canoeing 9 miles down the Etowah River. And we're still married!
